Our woodland management programme is in progress and trees are being felled that are dangerous, dead or have come to the end of their natural life. Much of the wood is ash or beech with some oak. All trees felled are done so with the appropriate permissions and with expert advice.
Where trees have been cleared, new varities are being planted. The Estate is working to a formal and comprehensive woodland management and replanting plan.
The Estate logging team cuts and splits the wood, which is then sorted and stored in a purpose built wood store located on the Estate. The wood is put down for at least year before use.
To help fund the purchase of logging equipment and supporting facilities and to aid the Estate replanting programme, seasoned fire wood from existing stocks on the Estate is offered for sale at a very reasonable price to residents of the Estate. If you have the space, green wood can also be delivered that you can put down yourself.
If you would like a load(s) delivered, please contact:
Sylvia Stride, the "log lady" of Rousdon Estate. She will take payment and organise delivery. 01297 443 718
If you would like to be part of the logging team, please contact Mike Hughes, Director Environment & Woodlands. 01297 444993.
